Playing larger venues now but still a rocking good time. Still early in the year but I’m confident saying it’ll go down as one of the years best.

I’ve been a huge fan of JJ Grey & Mofro for awhile now. I discovered them on Pandora. I love JJ Grey’s voice, but nothing compares to hearing his voice in person.. He is amazing, and his band… especially the horns, are out of bounds. So good!!!

Overall, I enjoyed the show but with some caveats. I had never seen Big Head Todd before, but really loved them. Great guitar, great sound. I must admit that I did not enjoy G love and Special Sauce. I guess I’m not into the rap style. That’s just my opinion; one of my friends really likes them. JJ Grey and Mofro was awesome. I’ve listened to them quite a bit lately. JJ’s vocals and harmonica are especially up my alley. Their sound was too loud tho, even distorted at times. That’s it. Go see it for yourself!

Yet another amazing show put on by JJ Grey & Mofro. They are fast becoming my new “it” band altho I have been following them for years. The band seemed a little tired and didn’t perform with their usual high energy and great smiles. JJ was stoked because his daughter/family with there with him . It’s so refreshing to see him in such a good place – his attitude about life in general is a breath of fresh air.
If you’ve never seen ’em – don’t miss ’em. You won’t regret it!

An evening at the Pageant with JJ Grey and Mofro. The crowd was ready to have fun, and the band was ready to provide it. The energy from the band made it an evening I will never forget.

A well rounded lineup of blues from Chicago, New Orleans, Ashville NC & Jacksonville, FL all with their own flair of blues. All were GREAT and JJ Grey was Fabulous!!! Definately recommend

JJ Grey & Mofro played their hearts out and had fun doing it – watching the band interact through their jam interludes, seeing them appreciate one anothers’ solos; it was tremendous.

My girlfriend and I truly enjoyed the show and the venue. Great smaller room with dedicated fans. JJ Gray’s voice was perfect! He and his band obviously like each other and are very talented musicians. One of the best shows I’ve attended, he’s a great entertainer.

I have honestly probably been to over 200 shows in my life, and this one may have been the very best. The four performers were amazing. I was interested and intrigued the entire time. I did not want it to end. I hope they come together again for a tour. I would have paid double for my ticket. They were THAT good. Venue was great, no problems.

…and go see JJ Grey and Mofro throw down. Saw them in Nashville. First of all, the band members looked like they were having the best time in their lives…at a couple of points in the show Grey just sits down and listens to them play – shaking his head in appreciation. Then Grey opens his mouth and effortlessly the sound pours out like a gallon jug that’s trying to contain the Atlantic Ocean….You just can’t sit back without moving your head or tapping your feet. In one word – Amazing! I’ll happily support them for the remainder of my days.

What can I say that I haven’t said about these bands before!? I discovered Thomas Wynn and the Believers when they opened up for JJ Grey and Mofro about 2 years ago, and I’ve been a believer ever since. The harmony between Thomas and his sister, Olivia, are awesome and not often heard in rock-n-roll. The band would not be complete without the remaining band members, David on bass, Ryan on drums, and of course, Chris on his amazing harmonicas! I don’t think I have ever enjoyed harmonica playing that much until I saw Chris play.

For pete’s sake – I love live music and it needs to be loud sure, but that was absurd – I couldn’t hear instruments, couldn’t make out any subtlety in singing – Broussard in particular was just this high pitch distorted screech. Absurdly loud and counterproductive. I’m not against loud but that was not fun. Terminal 5 – come on.

I discovered Mofro only recently and so it was great timing that they played in San Francisco last weekend. J.J. Grey performs with great commitment and his band is very well-synced in all ways. Their music is definitely the blues, but not traditional blues, no 12-bar progressions. Maybe soulful is a better word, but with a strong element of southern blues.

One of the best bands to see live, ever! The passion they play with, the enjoyment the get and give, while entertaining…they love what they do and it’s what makes the show fantastic. Great music, great energy, great show!

Before I saw him, there were a few songs I liked and more I didn’t so much care for. After seeing him perform them live, I had a new appreciation for his music. He is so energetic! His stage presence is amazing! He is seriously alive on the stage; he gives so much soul to every song.

This bluesy rock band rattled my soul! Big sound from these guys. Loved every minute. Not surprised a bit when a couple Southern guys told me this band is big in the South. JJ Grey brought us into his living room while jamming in the D.

The concert was amazing. Which I knew, it wold be. Having seen JJ Grey & Mofro several times in the past, that was not too difficult to presume. The House of Blues in Orlando is a great venue and the place was packed. The evening started with 2 opening bands at 9pm, which were pretty good, although not great. Mofro hit the stage at around 11:15pm, which was quite late, but they’ve put on a great show that lasted till almost 2am. They’ve stopped for a few minutes to celebrate the New Year at midnight (with some of the band member’s families in attendance), which was pretty cool too. There was champagne and confetti everywhere. During the show, they’ve played a lot of their big hits and even a new song that will be on their upcoming album. They’ve also did a lot of extended versions of their songs and improvised jam sessions. At the end, the opening band’s guitar and harmonica players came on stage and together with Mofro, did a thunderous, bluesy jam session which was just out of this world. Overall, it was a fantastic night, a great way to kick off 2015!!

JJ Grey & Mofro are at their best in small venues where it is a bit more intimate. This show was great. Lafayett’s Music Room needs some updating but that shouldn’t be held against the artist.

Love the Paradise such a nice intimate venue. Got there a little late doors at 7 me at 730. just a few people in the room so I get a nice spot right at the stage. Nice that the dise works their heating and cooling right. as the room fills it’s not 95 degrees like in some places. Eric Krasno Band takes the stage, I’ve never heard them before. They do a great set. Crowds getting bigger. Nice Vibes everyone just having a good time. Short break inbetween and the place is now packed. JJ Grey hit the stage running and it just never stopped. So much fun and such a talented band. Great horns, keys, guitars slides and the cutest bass player! Todds so sweet. They had whole place dancing and singing the whole time. So many smiles it was perfect.

This is our 43rd JJ Grey and Mofro show and the bands sound is tighter than ever.
Ol’Glory is quite introspective and JJ did a tremendous job of presenting the depth of the new songs inter-twined with sensational versions of his best prior work.

I have long wanted to see this group. Their music is fun, beautiful and just fantastic. It amazes me that I was able to see them at the Stone Pony. I do not understand how JJ Grey and Mofro are not plating venues like the Garden, but that is oh so much better for us.

This was our first visit to this venue. We liked it but the sound system wasn’t sharpe, seemed like the speakers were a little blown out. But we liked it besides that, we’re happy to have a small venue to go to in the area, we always missed the “CareFree” theater years back to see our favorite old bands.

I’ve seen the best of the best from Clapton to King, Stevie Ray, Robert Cray and Ronnie Earl. The list goes on. This was my first Mofro show. How this guy slipped under my radar for so long amazes me. It also was my first trip to the Rock Club. It was a perfect venue for this show. I was front and center and the acoustics were fantastic. I’d love to see them get booked at the Blues N Brews fest this August at Nashoba Valley. Either way this won’t be the last time I see JJ!

A definite must-see band. The band was very personable, engaging the audience from the first song. Very talented musicians. They played for close to two hours! There was never a time when the show was boring. Great mix of new songs and old favorites. The sound mix was much better for JJ Grey than for Sister Sparrow. I couldn’t understand any of the opening band’s lyrics.

Amazing show in a great venue! We are from Tulsa and were sad they didn’t play the Cain’s this tour so we travelled to Atlanta and St Louis to catch two shows. Buckhead was awesome but the show the Pageant even better. Hope they come to Tulsa on the next round!

The entire show was great. For some reason I didn’t expect them all to play together but they did and sounded great. They took turns taking lead. The theater is a great, intimate venue but the service is HORRIBLE! I managed to get our waitress to bring me two beers over the course of 3+ hours.

JJ Grey and Mofro once again put on an unbelievable performance. This band is the best touring act I know of at the moment. The heart and soul poured into the performance transports the listener to a much better place. Songs like This River and Lochloosa are timeless classics that will certainly be favorites of future generations of fans.

GREAT NIGHT. Seeing these guys play together, but separate (as in doing their individual songs) was a treat. Having seen some of them play together and separate before — this was yet another slice of their tremendous abilities and talent. Also nice to have the sound stripped down where you could hear every word, laugh, and note.

When we saw JJ Grey and Mofro in Vail six years ago, we were excited to see that they were appearing at the Pageant (one of our favorite venues). We were not as happy with this concert, however. It was much louder than the nice, relaxing sounds that we heard in Vail.
