Saw him at the Foundry in Philly, which is really like a lounge. Incredible to be at such an intimate place with Rufus Wainwright at the piano. Puts on an incredible show.

This was the worse concert I have ever attended. It was ridiculous in all aspects. Rufus Wainwright is a talented singer but this “family special” was horrible. It seems like any family member or extended family was invited on stage to pretend to sing. Not one of the performers, with the possible exception of Harris and Rufus, could sing. None of the children could sing at all. None of the other family members even came close to being good singers. Most sang off key. The others YELLED while they were singing, I guess to compensate in some way for their lack of singing abilities. For the first time in my life, I left a concert at half-time, despite having paid $74 for a good seat.

I always enjoy Rufus Wainwright. I think bringing on a bratty kid for more than 10 seconds is more than the audience wants or needs.

Show was terrible. We left at intermission. Save your money.

As always, it was great seeing the Wainwrights, their family members and friends on the stage! The show was festive and fun

Rufus, talented voice but not interactive with the audience, unorganized and a bit like being in his living room as he ad libbed the night of music. I have never been to anything he has done, so I was a little surprised… Not really what I had in mind to bring the spirit of the season. In the future, I will pass on tickets to the Wainwrights show, even if the voices have talent.

I was not impressed. For a Christmas show I was very disappointed. I was expecting a show that was more lively and upbeat. This one seemed to be dead and draggy. They were not very organized as they did not seem to know what was going to be next. The only bright spot was the performance of Emmylou Harris. Even Allyson Kraus didn’t seem too enthused to be there. I would not recommend spending the money to see this show.

The show was uneven, but it had some great moments, such as the encore of “Proserpina” at the end of the concert My wife and I have gone to a number of these concerts over the years – when Kate was there and after she passed. We went because we loved the music of Kate and Anna McGarrigle. It was fun when some other artists joined them, such as, Emmylou Harris or Sloan Wainwright. The shows have become less satisfying for us since Kate passed because Anna has receded into the background (she wasn’t present at this concert; and Martha didn’t acknowledge her, though Rufus did). We think that Rufus and Martha have terrific voices, but we wouldn’t go to these events if it wasn’t for the music of the McGarrigles. Also, there were things at the concert that detracted from our enjoyment of the music, such as Martha’s constant dramatics to get attention and Rufus’ stopping in the middle of a song because he or the piano was off key. For these ardent McGarrigle fans, the event itself has also become a bit off key. Fortunately, these event do help fund research into the cancer that quieted Kate’s voice.

The entire program was awesome! From start to finish the music and artists exceeded expectations.

What a great night. The venue was just amazing, the bar was on point, and the intimate stage allowed everyone to be so close. I love the Fillmore, and I can’t wait to return for another show.

Not your typical Christmas show. I guess you would call this a new age Christmas show. A lot of talent to be sure but definitely playing to the more liberal crowd

NEVER, NEVER again will I attend any show of theirs! Horrible! Martha flitted around, flipping her skirt, forgetting who was up next – although she obviously had a printed schedule in her hand. Rufus just pranced around. I’m sure they are very popular with others – NOT my cup of tea at all.
The final straw was when Rufus commented on the acoustics of the Ryman. “We’ll see how God Damn good they are”! Then proceeded to sing a Christmas song.
The only thing I enjoyed about the show were Emmylou, Allyson and especially Jamey Johnson. I could have listened to them all night.
