I am a big fan and have seen Rufus perform several times but I felt like he just ‘phoned in’ his performance. Very little banter between songs and not really much variety. I thought his sister, Lucy Wainwright Roche was much more compelling and her harmonies were gorgeous. I’d go see her again.

First, My husband and I are BIG fans of Bergen PAC. We love the small venue, the employees and the fact that it is a small venue where the sound and visibility is good.

Eclectic, joyful, melancholy, hilarious, tearful – This event hit every emotional note. The songs ranged from traditional to modern, operatic to electro, rock to jazz, religious to secular to pagan, and even rap. Every performer got their moment in the spotlight. The Wainwright/McGarrigle Christmas shows have always been like sitting in a family room and getting ready for the holidays with musical family & friends. This event was everything it needed to be. With a line up that included Renee Fleming, Justin Vivian Bond, Lucy Wainwright Roche, Emmylou Harris, Jenni Muldaur, Ciba Matto, Louden Wainwright, III, and a band that could play any style, how could it not be.So many highlights: Lucy singing River, Rufus & Jenni singing Baby It’s Cold Outside, Martha’s I’ll Be Home For Christmas – every song was a show of its own. We were lucky to be seated second row center, and felt like we were on the stage – a real privilege. The closing number by Sloan & Martha Wainwright and the ensemble was Proserpina, and tears were flowing in the house.

The stage was filled with amazing talent. However, with this being a holiday show I expected it to be uplifting. It wasn’t. The songs were mostly slow and sleepy.

Outstanding concert! Rufus played songs going back to his first album. Great variety of tunes. His voice sounds spectacular! Loved that it was just Rufus with is piano and guitar–pure beauty. Very moving.

I beg to differ. Although I love most of his music, I follow him for the whole package. I have no problem with hearing about his politics – I agree with him. We are living in a time when our rights and freedoms are being challenged daily, and if we’re not aware of this, we’re not paying attention. As a gay man, Rufus is particularly vulnerable, and so, speaks out. We need to be listening.

This is a must see. Rufus & Martha bring their amazing family & some truly special guests to sing various Christmas songs. Some familiar, some not. But it’s all amazing!! The night we went, Emilou Harris & Rene Fleming were among the guests.

Lucy Wainwright Roche was the opener and she was wonderfully weird. Rufus came on and I hadn’t realized that he was playing a solo show. He was amazing from the beginning to the end. He played a lot of songs I never heard before and they were amazing. His voice is so clear and crisp. It was a privilege to see him play live.
